Jointing of Plastic-Sheathed Cables
Year: 1st edition 1978
Persistent link: http://handle.itu.int/11.1002/pub/800c8249-en
This handbook describes some of the methods for jointing plastic sheathed telecommunication cables (sheath closures) used at present by various telecommunication Administrations, private operating agencies and cable manufacturing companies. Enough information is given to enable Administrations to choose the type best suited to their own requirements from the different methods described, but further details concerning equipment, materials and methods used may be necessary before adopting any of the techniques. Some methods have been omitted because the method has been, or is being, superseded by improved methods that have undergone long-term trials.Trials have also been made with sheath closures for metal-sheated cables providedwith an outer plastic sheath and these have been included in the handbook, together with methods of jointing plastic and metal plastic sheaths to each other and to other types of cable sheaths.
